The Comeback
Four Years of Silence.
Then, Arirang.
On March 20, 2026, BTS released ARIRANG -- their 5th studio album and first group release in approximately four years. Named after the iconic Korean folk song that has echoed through centuries of Korean history, ARIRANG is more than a comeback album. It is a statement of identity. A bridge between heritage and the future. The seven members who left as individuals returned as something bigger: a cultural force that had only grown stronger in absence.
Gwanghwamun Square, Seoul -- March 21, 2026
The very next day, on March 21, they performed a comeback concert at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul that became the largest public concert in South Korean history. 22,000 Golden Ticket holders filled the square while 260,000 fans gathered in the surrounding streets -- a sea of purple that stretched across downtown Seoul. The concert was directed by Hamish Hamilton, the man behind the Super Bowl halftime show and the Oscars, and was livestreamed to over 190 countries via Netflix. Within hours, #BTSLiveonNetflix became the #1 trending hashtag worldwide on X, surpassing 5 million mentions. Netflix Vice President Brandon Riegg called it "the greatest show on earth" -- a singular shared experience for the entire planet.
All seven members wore custom "Lyrical Armor" outfits designed by Korean fashion house Jay Songzio -- pieces inspired by Joseon-era warrior armor, reimagined through a modern luxury lens. It was the visual thesis for the entire tour. The album features collaborations with Diplo, Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, Mike Will Made-It, JPEGMafia, Artemas, and Jasper Harris. Fourteen tracks that span genres and emotions, with "Swim" as the title track. And now, the Arirang World Tour begins -- the most ambitious tour BTS has ever staged, spanning from Seoul to Sydney, from Tampa to Tokyo, from London to Lima.
